Welcome to the Learning Gardens Lab!

The Learning Gardens Lab is a 2-acre educational community-garden located on the 12-acre Green Thumb site in SE Portland. Our mission is to foster sustainable leadership and lifelong learning for people of all ages through garden-based education, reciprocal relationships with the land, and collaborative engagement in regenerative food systems. We offer educational workshops, provide volunteer opportunities, and grow fresh, high-quality produce while building healthy soils, relationships, & community.

What We Do

Harvest Share

From May through October, LGL shares our abundance of veggies and herbs, grown and harvested with love, through weekly produce boxes. To pre-order your Harvest Share box click here. All proceeds directly support our programs.

Educational Programs

We provide experiential garden-based education to learners of all ages. Our programs include K-12 garden-based field trips, professional development opportunities for educators, community engaged learning projects with 100+ PSU students a year, and hands-on gardening and sustainable living skills with local community members.

Volunteer Opportunities

We could not function without the dedication, passion, and participation of our volunteers. We hold regular volunteer work parties every first Saturday of the month from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. We also offer seasonal volunteer hours during the week. Visit our Instagram for our seasonal volunteer offerings.
